Mastering Detached Involvement
Oh, the joy of managing our emotions at work. When our career is humming along and relationships are strong, we find emotion regulation simple. Throw in a chaotic customer, a project gone wrong or one antagonistic colleague, and serenity goes out the window. What makes some people so good at managing these rough patches, when it seems so tough for us?
It’s because some have learned to master what’s known as detached involvement. This is the ability to stay emotionally balanced and objective, even while being deeply involved in a situation. Start by watching this video to explore techniques you can start implementing, first thing tomorrow morning, as a foundation for managing those pesky emotional outbursts at work. You’ll be glad you did.
