Prayer is the First Resort

For Christian professionals that have raw talent, a good deal of experience and have tasted career success, prayer tends to be a last resort. We know God is there, patiently waiting for us to draw near to His throne of grace. But we often forget, until things get so out of control we pray in panic.

This is part of human nature, sadly. We see evidence of this self-reliance as early as the Genesis 11 story in the Tower of Babel. Perhaps we want to be great, on our own, without God.

What subtle habits have we formed that lead us down this path so frequently? How often do we pray to the God that grants all increase? What can help us develop the righteous discipline of praying continually?
